Unbelievable Challenge 2014 Finland Architecture
Logistics center
The project was completed in 2014 for the “Unbelievable Challenge” competition organized by the façade system manufacturer Ruukki. The theme of the competition was to design a logistics center for Santa Claus. While developing the concept, we decided to analyze the geometric shapes of Christmas and New Year symbols and concluded that many of them — such as a Christmas tree, Santa’s hat, and a snowman — can be simplified to the shape of a cone. In the architectural design of our project, we also based the structure on the shape of a cone and logically distributed all the main functions of the logistics center from bottom to top: at the bottom, in the widest part, are the storage areas; in the middle — the entertainment and guest area; and at the very top of the cone — the administrative zone, culminating in Santa’s office at the peak, along with a platform for his sleigh located in the same area.
