Residential complex in Magnitogorsk
Typology: Residental
Program: Residental complex
Status: Concept design
Callaborators: LEMMA
The residential complex was conceived as a response to the city’s demand for a new level of housing, designed for top-level specialists working in metallurgy and mineral extraction. Located in the historic center, which is predominantly shaped by Soviet-era development, the project emerges as a unique architectural event and sets a new standard for the quality of the urban environment.
The architectural composition consists of three eight-story buildings.
Each building has its own identity through the use of anodized aluminum in different shades on the upper floors — silver, copper, and emerald. This color palette creates a contemporary silhouette for the ensemble and emphasizes its prestigious character.
The façades are arranged in a clear vertical hierarchy, reflecting the architectural order: the first and second floors are clad in natural stone, forming a monumental base; the middle levels are built in clinker brick, adding depth and texture to the façades; the upper floors are finished with anodized aluminum, visually lightening the composition and symbolizing the transition to high-class living. These levels feature enlarged layouts, including exclusive duplex apartments with private terraces.
The complex is designed as a holistic environment for living and working. An underground parking garage ensures convenient car accommodation, while the ground floors create an active urban frontage. Spacious lobbies, sports and hobby spaces, and a children’s educational center form a rich internal infrastructure. Facing the main streets, retail areas are provided to activate the ground plane, reinforcing the project’s urban centrality and opening it to the wider community.
As a result, the residential complex becomes a new benchmark for housing in Magnitogorsk. It combines contemporary standards of comfort with expressive architecture, respects the historic context of the city center, and introduces a qualitatively new level of living to the urban fabric.
